A Child Looking At The CloudsA Poem by Mario Vitalepoetrya light endurance to the beam in your eye with a soft reply shouts of prowess
cosmic beauty ever seen through the lens of a child looking at clouds they gather their thoughts in a cashmere type tapestry alone in the grass making shapes see a whole kingdom coming down out of the sky as a young child I would dream many dreams filtered through the sun for a heavenly bit of fun even had forts in the woods up to no good getting chased by the police quick stance for dancing feet was a sorted field and stream in the tender moments of my youth my thoughts would wander hooked on a feeling this source of strength came from the mighty hand of God as I would tap into his wisdom gather my senses quick mending fences down to my defenses I would carry on with a song my heart was an opened door for so much more with sweat on my brow I would confide with only a few friends I would so often venture as a pilgrim in a thanksgiving feast Years would pass and at a glance I started writing my memories down with pen on paper Captured the child like tender memories of mom and dad and the neighborhood gang Took short trips down by the shore had lobster and many good eating foods to enjoy as a young man with a bat and ball their was always a no it all in the gang running flames as a beam of light I was always gentle and polite always saying thanks for what was given There were moments of discovery swept underneath the rug with the rubble you see I became a bit bitter in my youth looking for fights but never ending them my friend Inside I was depressed from all the mess I must clearly confess it became a great habit In 1989 I would shine in my senior class play, "The Mystery Of Edwin Drood". Felt I could conquer the world then i felt ill with mono but i was determined to be strong In time I would act in college plays and tried to be a ham or something special Became a security guard for 10 years and had to be on my best behavior there were moments under the sun I would roll my eyes to the degree of faint laughter prepared for the great here after... Life was challenging me to this very day I always bow the knee to pray with words to say my personal pilgrims progress came apart as I was diagnosed with mental illness very strong presence, Today I write poetry to take me away from the depression it has a heightened value to succeed... Growing closer to my Jesus and help others in their need a heavenly relief I hear voices with choices so I take my medication wandering in desolation There is a way of escape from using my life skills with cheap thrills it pays the bills I will share the passion of poetry until the very day I die. © 2018 Mario Vitale |
