Keeper Of Death

Keeper Of Death

A Poem by Mario Vitale
"

A brush of death

"

How mesmerizing,

the flame that dances before my eyes

How entrancing,

as it flickers in

its provocative ways

So bright, so beautiful,

Yet so erotically evil

Consuming all that

gets in its way

How false that the

flame can be tame

A substance of life,

and keeper of death

Acting out its part in

the lives of all

Magical, helpful, yet

painfully deadly

How odd the flame is,

its characteristics frightfully

similar to those of... Love !

Perhaps there is a similarity between romantic love and death. They both put you to sleep and they both let you down.
