GUARDED

GUARDED

A Poem by mel

You meant a lot to me but you always claimed I meant more to you. It did not seem that way when you left me out to bleed after stabbing me with your absence. You ran away and I kept chasing after you, despite my blood running dry. I know you saw me, I know you looked back every once in a while. Not once did you stop to wait on me. My struggle did not seem to weaken your soul.

That spoke more of you than any of your empty words ever have. Next time somebody tells me I mean more to them than they do to I, I will look at the scars from your silent stab. That will be a reminder to keep my guard up this time.
