Buried

Buried

A Poem by mhylands

Asphyxiated by the anticipation
As I lay petrified within this coffin
Six feet under from the deprivation

Hostilic tendencies pulsate from the outside
Still and vexed as how to escape
Needing to placate the dissonance

In the darkness
Left to ponder
How I ever became entrapped by my own ineptitude

Inside, sadness
I always wonder
How I ever became ensnared by your tranced illusion

The chimes tolled a century before I realized
Silhouettes born of the blight haunted
The fragments shattered before my own eyes
Remnants lost to decay of the wanted

Surrounded in lullaby
Serenaded by your last goodbye
I was the only one to cry
As I was buried here and left to die
