![]() June 6 2016A Story by mia![]() Life gets better...![]() A mixture of emotions went through me today as I stood with
hundreds of other muslim women all together as one during the taraweeh prayer.
Being Pakistani American has been rough, I continuously stray off the path but
Ramadan is the month to get your act together. I raised my hands against my
ears as we began the saleh. I held my hands close to my blue colored chest and
stared at the freshly unpolished nails. The relief was different, it was hot
and clustered and I continued to lose my balance yet still I felt happy and
valued the importance of this day. I continued to see many recognizable faces, but everyone looked
the same. Arms and legs and hair covered and the modesty was beautiful, the
strength was beautiful, the ability for so many people to come together and
value the one thing they believe in together, the ability for strangers to
become brothers and sisters and knowing that as soon as you enter the beautiful
room you are no longer alone. This is the beauty of Ramadan, this is the beauty
of Islam. © 2016 mia |
