Untitled 10

A Poem by Michael Hess
"

I wrote this song on a cold, clear night by the lake. It's not finished yet, but will be soon.

2:14 A.M.

Look above, look at the stars

Shinin' down on where you are tonight.

It's funny how the things that happened

Are keeping us away from what we had tonight.

Not a day goes by that you don't run through my mind,

And I can't seem to find what I'm lookin' for.

What made us change?

What made us shut and lock the door?

Was it the things I said or was it me?

Was it your fear of a broken heart that wasn't relieved?

Look ahead, look at the waves

Crashin' down, puttin' out our burning flame tonight.

Listen to the wind, changin' direction,

So it's never the same tonight.

Have we reached the end or will you be back again

In my life and in my arms?

I remember all those nights we'd just lie there and talk

'Til the break of dawn.

Was it things I said? Was it me?

Was it your fear of broken heart you couldn't relieve?

You were my everlasting friend, you stole my heart.

But you forgot who you are.

I wish we could turn back time to the days when

I had your heart and you had min and we let each other in.
