Blank Canvas

Blank Canvas

A Poem by Michelle Joy
"

A piece I wrote after a significant other walked away.

"
I was the canvas
and you were the painter
Your paintbrush was your voice
and your words were the paint
You painted a story I thought would never end
But one day your paint ran dry
The words stopped coming
You dropped your brush
and walked away
And I was left alone;
a blank canvas once more

I love the metaphor but theres a problem... The painter painted you and when he left you were blank again? Were you the same canvas? A blank canvas is a fresh start. Maybe you could add a little more info on how the canvas went blank:). Other than that, beautifully written! Great flow and beautifully simple.

When I read this I want a lot more in terms of detail. Why is the speaker such a blank canvas, waiting for someone else to paint him/her with words? Why did the paint run dry? I feel like you could flesh this out a bit.
