The woman on the corner asks...

What is a man?

What makes a man a real man?

And I said...

Who makes the decision to decide "that's a man"?

Is the decision made by how strong he is?

Or how much he will give up?

Is it the fact that he will die for whom he loves?

Maybe it's decided by the decisions he made in his life

Maybe it's decided by how he was composed in the worst of times

Maybe it was because he never said maybe

But with all this said all I really want to know is...

well is who the hell had the decision?

Who gave that person the choice?

Who was so brilliant that they could decide anything for anyone other than themselves?

A man could be all the above but if he doesn't feel  like he is all he can be...

then he is not a man.... actually he would still be a man because...

Because he had the wisdom to realize that he could be more

No matter how much you think of all the bad decisions...

at least you know now and you realized  your fault

And I think that will make any-boy a man

Accountability? I wish it was that simple. I get where you want to take this and to that extent is an interesting writing. Long gone are the rhymes and when that happens at least to me this writing wants to be an expossition of sorts, a declaration of intent even , not sure but prosaic in the sense of leaning towards prose rather than peotry.

I like the message of this piece.. it shouldn't matter what standards other people compare you to or judge you by, it is your actions and beliefs that define you.. your character.. we all make mistakes, but to be able to learn from them, self reflect, and grow, that is what makes the difference.. overall good job Micky....
