My best lesson

My best lesson

A Poem by micky

The one lesson that I learned in school...
that really made a difference
That made an impact on me
Was in grade 7
I had this teacher that everyone hated
He gave technology and Afrikaans to the grade sevens
But he is the type of person with all sorts of corny saying
And one day he asked my class...
"What is love?"
When I stuck my hand up and he asked me
I said "Love is something that you will give everything up for, something you'll die for"
Then he said " Are you saying you'll die for you're gold fish, since you love it?"
I'll admit I felt like I was stupid for saying that
But the next week he asked the same thing
I didn't even bother to put up my hand
But he asked me anyway
So I took a moment to think
And slowly I realized the point of this question
It wasn't about the answer, it was about why he asked it
Love has no real definition, because there are to many kinds of 'love'
After class I told him I understood the point of the question
He asked me what it was and I said
"In life there are so many things, so many situations ,so many decisions..
that when we get to them we feel obligated to decide or cease the moment. We never
take the time to think about anything, we never focus on the thing that make us whom we are."
I will never forget that lesson...
And I will never forget the day he became my best friend
 Thank you Mr. Ferriora

Micky!! I think this is my new favorite of yours!! this is so heartfelt, touching, and meaningful... this warms my heart and couldn't agree more with the lesson... wow.. pretty powerful!

few things I noticed...
"But he is the type of person with all sorts of corny saying(S)"... need an (s) on the end of "saying"

"take the time to think about anything, we never focus on the thing that make us whom we are.""....
"make(s) us who we are".. sounds better here..

overall, this is awesome work... well done... loved it!!

Great to hear from you thanks so much for the review :)
I loved this story, it had a beautiful message along with a wonderful ending of friendship between teacher and student, something that not everyone is lucky enough to have. Great job on this my friend!

You arrived at that subject. It has been covered so much and so much so.... That if I started to comment on the subject itself it will only fail to be redundant. So instead I will just focus on the writing which continues on a journey of discovery mainly found in questions and answers, this time on the subject of love. So unfold it and let it be selfless....

That is if you can

Thankyou

Thank you Rene for the review :)
This is a really good lesson to be taught I was asked a similar question from an ex (after we broke up) She asks me how would I define love and I smiled and said. "Love is an eternity of two souls, whether it is someone you hold close at night, a dear friend, or family though the one thing is that love is eternal that once loved does not exist for if you once loved you never loved at all. my answer just completely blew her away.
