Ruins

Ruins

A Poem by Arpita Mondal

How long has it been?
Since you learned to like yourself.
How long has it been?
Since you learned to acknowledge yourself.
How long has it been?
Since you treated yourself right.
How long has it been?
Since you judged yourself through their eyes.
How far have you gone?
So as to meet their needs.
How much pain you've endured?
So as to fulfill their greeds.
Stand up honey, you were born too strong.
Do them right who have done you wrong.
Rome was built on ruins my sweet child.
What makes you think you can't be too?
