Internal medicine

Internal medicine

A Poem by Edward Martin

Sickness from the inside

Manifests in actions and thoughts

Acted upon

without heeding

Intuition

Ramifications

and respect

Gained and lost

Self involved self worth

Less at each juncture.

No one cares anymore,

They’ve come to expect so little from you

You’re just a fragmented thinker

Thinking you’re going up,

You’re coming down.

Thinking you’re blending in,

You’re sticking out.

Why is it you are the only one who knows

Just how worthless you truly are.

Sticking out like a sore thumb.

You’ll get a ride but not where you want.
