New Beginnings

New Beginnings

A Poem by Mike Espinosa

The slate can't be wiped clean
the word still appears
and haunts what used to be me
myself
laughing at me
with every swipe
every spit shine
every scratch
the words grow bold
darker and thicker
my mind deteriorates
The word overwhelms what's left
"Failure"

I like this poem, very much; it reminds me of a few thoughts that I have put to words, regarding failure. Failure seems to be such a powerful thing, but I refuse to believe that it really exists, personally!
