A Year in a Day

A Year in a Day

A Poem by Mike Espinosa
"

After a photograph by a good friend.

"

The 4th of July in her hands,

New Year's on her wrist,

May Day on her legs,

the first day of school on her feet,

anxiously rubbing their heels together.

Her thumbs wrestled,

peaking out only once or twice

from under cover of shadow.

This made me smile. It described beauty in a simple, whimsical, almost childish way. "the first day of school on her feet" was my favorite line in this piece. I really really liked it! Good job love!

I loved this. You chose to interpret and represent that image in a way I wouldn't have considered and I appreciate your creativity. "May Day on her legs" was my favorite because it worked with the idea of her being nervous. New Years on her wrist also worked well because it made me think about how people count down to ring in the new year and she's anxiously waiting for something to happen as well. Great job. :)
