We have to work so hard to be at peace, these days, it is time consuming and even stressful because it is so hard to find. I live in a tiny ghost town in Texas, thirty-five miles from where I can spend money. Moving slow in the sunshine is a good thing, and tends to work...

I don't know wherre you live, here on the Llano Estacado, the sun is BRILLIANT and the wind intrusive... Every time I find my way back east, I make it a point to walk in a forest long enough to get lost, wander till I find water rolling over rocks...

I live in a place where such raw exposure to nature is impossible. I grew up in a village and have been really resilient and tough, until I moved to the city and lost touch with nature. I spent a year abroad in a small town, though, just before the pandemic, and there were nice places and secluded tracks, where I found my moments of peace and self-reflection.
