A Cure For Insanity

A Cure For Insanity

A Poem by Miles

“Poetry? Darn you! It’ll never work”
“Oh, sure it will. Nothing does the job better.”
And so echoed the nonsense throughout my cave
As me and myself reached into my mind
And found little inside to keep it in bind

The grasps of reason were breaking
And nothing short of lunacy was staking
When a solution was found
By writing it all unbound

“Take up the chisel and scribble this down:
‘I hate bananas and small towns’.”
And as I grasped it between my shaking fingers
I could already feel it disappearing
Sliding along my fingertips and onto the wall
Where I’d written Insanity’s last laugh
