Drop another pill to ease your woes 
Welcome to the crazy show 
Here's another to help the pain 
This one will hit like a freight train 
More and more chemicals consumed 
The sacred vessel I was blessed with is doomed 


Breathe but don't feel 
Stand but do not  fall 
Push but don't burn yourself out 
Follow me without any doubt 
Love but do not get hurt 
Bear a cursed heart but still flirt 
Break but don't show the pain 
Shatter into pieces 
Go a little insane 


Like a junkie waiting for his hit 
Escape and release from all the sh*t 
Knowing deep down the dark sordid  truth 
You're addicted 
An excruciating withdrawal is proof 
As essential as oxygen for your lungs 
Without its comfort you're too highly strung

An itch starts as I fade away 
Welcome distance from the day to day 
Top up  with a green haze 
Body numb, soul dazed  
Billowing fog seducing the mind 
Offering you some freedom 
The tempestuous kind

You're running away, 
You're  lost in the dark 
A scalpel Left it's brutal marks 
Denying the grief kept inside 
Living a life full of bravado and lies 
Hiding all the sorrow and shame 
Too scared to accept 
Your life will never be the same again

Sounds like a modern day version of Jefferson Airplane's song White Rabbit (If you have never heard it look it up on youtube). I like dark poetry, it teaches you to appreciate all side of the human condition. Your poem is very power and a little scary for the realism that comes from experience. I look forward to read more of your work.

I grew up with the 50's 60's and 70's so oldies for me is the 40's and world war 2 stuff :~)
