Mother Nature

Mother Nature

A Poem by Laura Paxton

Her long tangled brown hair,

Like the twisted and curved branches of the forests.

Her breath, soft and warm like the summer breeze.

Her eyes, blue and vast, like the vast blue ocean,

And shines like sun.

She is the guardian of the forest.

Watching every creature,

From the herding buffalo,

Too the gentle bee and all the creatures of the sea.

Providing shelter and food for her young,

She is gentle like a young deer.

But strong like an ox

She can be quiet like butterfly,

And loud like a roaring lion.

She is Mother Nature.

Is this a pagan poem? mother nature is a modern pseudonym for Gaia the goddess of ancient Greek religion. Before I turned to Christ I made comments about mother nature myself without realizing I was condoning evolution and paganism. The Bible says
7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?
10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
Job 12:7-10
