Soda Bottle Shoes

Soda Bottle Shoes

A Poem by Michael Alexander
"

Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

"

To be happy in life one can choose

Just remember the man with soda bottle shoes.

He strums his guitar, but doesn’t sing the blues.

There he plays in his soda bottle shoes.

Standing on the corner, he preaches the good news

Shuffling his feet in those soda bottle shoes.

He trash picks a sandwhich, and happily chews-

With his feet covered by soda bottle shoes.

He sways to some music, heckled by ‘boos’

But still he dances in his soda bottle shoes.

I hand him some change, which I’m sure he can use

Yet he seems content with those soda bottle shoes.

With each day, when you’re sure you’re about to lose

Smile and remember the man and his soda bottle shoes.
