2012

A Poem by mitali
"

this was the poem i wrote when i was terrified of the then rumors that the world was going to end on 21-12-2012. though nothing happened, thankfully, i wrote a poem to get over that fear.

"

War

I woke up one morning and looked around,

The golden sun's rays fell fearless on the ground.

I looked in the mirror

And teary looking wide eyes stared back at me.

Blinking and wondering,

They thanked for another day,

Am I still alive?

I bowed and prayed to the only God of all,

I hope to fill my plates today and

Sleep without the fear of another fall.

We're fighting against our own men again,

Asking for blood and insanely killing

Each other with no absolute gain.

Don't you miss a child's innocent naive laugh?

Or the loud purposeful laughter

of the laughing club?

Don't you think about the tears?

Your beloved will cry,

When they touch your body completely destroyed?

Do the killers have to have a heart of stone?

Insensitive, immovable and inhuman.

Don't you realize, the person

You wish to sacrifice for your men,

Is your own son?

And there were people dying of hunger,

Others crippled in pain and dread.

They screamed and searched for their loved ones,

Left home and got lost in the wild war

Searching for bread.

And with trembling fateful hands I wiped my tears.

Realizing I just dreamt a nightmare

Of hatred and fears.

The war was fictional, yet so real.

And I bowed and prayed

That let this dreadful scene,

Be only seen in my silent dream.

Let the child's eyes sparkle with smile,

Let the mother's hope be alive.

Let the men return to their homes

From work and not war,

And let this wrath be on a land

Too far off reach from all.

you're most welcome :)
This is a great piece about waking from a dream about the end. About the worries of war, and the fear of all that will be lost. I like the last verse "let the men return to their homes, from work and not war.." I think that's a prayer we all secretly say to ourselves from time to time. Great job!
