After Patrick

After Patrick

A Poem by Mike Knoll
"

I'm really worried that the childhood address line doesn't work. Thoughts?

"

 Our youth no longer promised

immortality.

The reckless abandon

we once adhered to had gone

like a childhood address.

We were thrust

squalling into the harsh winds,

our faces scored by howling sorrow.

The freest spirit cut down

by demons within.

He had left the cave

and showed us the shadow farce

by never returning.
