The Road To Nowhere

The Road To Nowhere

A Poem by Michael McLaughlin

The Road To Nowhere

Where do I go from here,
This road is at an end,
I search about in fear,
Brave knowledge I pretend.

And nowhere can I see,
The way that I must go,
For who I am to be,
I fear I'll never know.

I see the other side,
Where I would like to be,
This road that I have tried,
Leads not to there for me.

I ache and mourn the loss,
For all the wasted time,
Because I cannot cross,
And make the object mine.

I turn to start again,
With twice the road to run,
And wonder if and when,
I'll find the chosen one.

There is a road for me,
But where I do not know,
I hope in time I'll see,
Which way I'm meant to go.
