for her

for her

A Poem by Michael Nava

I adored you from afar.
forever wishing you were mine.
always alert to your presence
Captivated by your joyful smile

Im bewildered in your presence, lost..
Lost in my imagination, to the thought of you.
lost in a enthralling dream, and I never want to wake up.

Sometimes when im feeling depressed and alone
I look up to the stars for reassurance
the moonlight shines into my melancholy eyes,
and i remember your face and smile.

Thank you for being what you are to me and
For being who you were.
For adding joy and peace to my life
and changing how I feel.

For sharing with me a portion of yourself; although
I know you will never be mine.
But that part that  you have given  me
Will never belong to anyone else.
