4 more years

4 more years

A Poem by Michael Nava
"

i wrote this about a girl i had a crush on in high school.

"

saw you walking by ,
during 3rd period break.
caught your smile out the corner of my eye.
a rush of joy bellowed through me .
my breath began to shorten,
and my heartbeat faster.

for four years ive chased you,
waiting for that perfect day.
My feelings were never easy to explain.
but always meant for you , difficult to contain.

with your every smile and every minute that passes  , i endure the pain
of knowing what might have been.
In the back of my mind I ponder consequences,
as lonley hearts break in the distance.

the flowers on the ground ,they all sway to your song.
cant you see what you do to me?
And all the memories will never fade, in my heart youll always stay.
Ill always love you more than youll ever know.
if i only had 4 more years to spill it out.
