Demons and Saints

Demons and Saints

A Poem by Jacqueline
"

Decisions, decisions...

"

Demons and Saints

on your shoulders
you glance both ways
hoping you’ll find the path
you’re supposed to travel

whispers lick each ear
you are conflicted by what
each voice say
pulled in different directions
it’s so easy to unravel

so you stare at the ground
no other footsteps around
then you gaze into the sky
but no one can hear your cries

those dual voices drown you out
from deep inside

do you follow the way of other lost
and tortured souls
accepting that tomorrow will bring
your certain doom
do you struggle to get to that place
you want to go
a million miles of obstacles-
you won’t arrive there soon

you feel the weight on your shoulders
as your world becomes colder
falling from every hill that you climb
but when you want to break down and cry

remember those voices;
they will drown you out everytime

I love the final stanza - it is so poignant. The flow of the poem is smooth, but with the rigidity of the decision, gives it a neat balance.

Well done.

Decisions can be difficult especially when neither choice seems to be the best. I can relate to this poem. I really liked the way it flowed.
Nice work
