{...forgive & never forget...}

{...forgive & never forget...}

A Poem by Christopher Michael Smith

I craved revenge against you,
&
Your cowardly mannerisms when I confronted you,
About the thoughtless words that you spewed forth.
Your weapon of choice is your poisonous tongue.
Such a slanderous part of the body,
If ever there was one.
Psyche dictated by a paranoid & trigger-happy delusion.
Bitter betrayal of spiteful judgments that skew any means to a logical conclusion.
Subconsciously or not,
But perhaps it has become you.
Trapped in a still frame.
A decade and a half later,
You still have not changed.
No emotion,
No remorse,
No empathy,
No support,
No one to blame but the deceptions you worship.
Striking down the ones you should rely on as if they deserve it.
Painting bad images of others to make yourself appear a little more perfect.
No matter the cost.
Creating fiends from friends.
Constructing swords from your elementary vocabulary of words,
&
The backs of your friendships is the only place where it can declare war & take a stand.
Take note of the blade's sharp edges that you keep throwing about.
"He is this & that.
No right & all wrong!"
A narcissistic anarchist?
Still using Words that you know not the slightest meaning of or about.
Dyslexia is no excuse for the bullshit that pushes its way out of your mouth.
Spiteful syllables are cut by your face's sphincter,
Better known as your lips.
Perhaps the Adderol has your mind racing for consonants that just do not fit.
It is no longer a burden that I care to bear,
In my friends, my enemies, or my self.
Still,
I forgive you, but
I will never forget.
I bless you,
&
Wish you nothing but the best.
Keep in mind that friends deserve your utmost respect.
Swords are sharp while in the backs of the ones that you infect.
Just remember,
Some people forgive & some never forget.
