Sober Apathy

Sober Apathy

A Poem by Mohl083
"

snow days make me sad...

"

The flurries are coming down outside

Whispering of the promise

Of another snow day.

The fat flakes parachute down

Like autumn leaves in a crisp breeze.

I tune in and out

To a movie I picked up at a pawnshop.

One I would have worn out on VHS

If I’d known about it back then.

I recall a day with heavier snow.

One I singed with

 Cheap cigarettes and bourbon

And wished away before it began.

Quiet moments in a warm apartment

Gel with the cold I feel by memory.

A steaming cup of coffee from the kettle

Complemented by my hand on the window pane.

More sleds covered in snow

Only to be remembered too late.
