Ore

Ore

A Poem by Molly D

I will call you Iron

for the taste you leave in my mouth,
the color you put in my cheeks,
and the way sink into my muscles.

because you are volatile,
lively and important,
prone to rusting if left unused.

for turning air into energy,
reddening my blood with life:
you are essential.

you collect in my chest,
a precious ore under my ribs,
and I carry you around like a promise.

poetry by its nature seems to tempt us writers to rambling and the talent shows in form and completeness, of careful pruning much like bonsai trees.

i love your talent because it shows in your wonderful metaphors, the way you can keep a single theme and yet use it in its various forms to create a beautiful panorama.

favorite lines here are

"you collect in my chest,
a precious ore under my ribs,
and I carry you around like a promise."

a very beautiful finish.

There is a rich depth to this piece, profound and vivid. The last line is simply perfection. Very intriguing write!
