Sentiments

Sentiments

A Poem by Monday Parker

I have no sweet sentiments for you anymore

Each time you come up in my mind

Emotions of you churn with resentment and disenchantment

I had such big dreams for us.

I saw it all

The white gown

I saw centuries with you

But you washed it all away

In your ocean of deceit

With your gasoline waves

Turing every affectionate thought I had of you

Into ash

 That you carried away.

Lie after lie you force fed me

Stored in my heart as rocks

You have turned me into stone.

Cold hard granite

I will not be part of your incline

Your stepping stone

No longer will you cause me problems

Or anguish

I will chisel you away.

Into the sand I walk in
