Entomb

Entomb

A Poem by Monday Parker

I’m glad you’re making good friends.

Such deep connections

That it overwhelms your sense of responsibility.

Wait…Actually that’s funny

What sense of responsibly??

Surely not any for your son.

None to the relationship that you WERE attempting to mend.

Not as long as everyone wipes your a*s

And hand feeds you

While you lay on your back

Getting your every need tended to like an Egyptian pharaoh

Like you deserve it

Like you’re a victim

Even though the pit you lay in

You shoveled

Scoop by scoop

To entomb yourself there

LOL...I enjoyed the frank language in this poetry...more so, it reminded me of a guy who hated to work and had his wife, work, clean, well, basically everything...I felt for her, and I didn't like this guy, who sadly I grew up with in the neighborhood...he is and always looking for short cuts in life and just flat out lazy. Surely a poem of vent, which is some times needed...nicely done.
