Howl in the Night

Howl in the Night

A Poem by Monday Parker

I can’t welcome you back into my life

You are wild

Like a pack of wolves

Reckless and free

You were a splinter of my past

When I was untamed like you.

I have grown into an adult

Domesticated

Yet, something in you calls to me

Like a howl in the night

I lock my windows tight

Ignoring the bits of you

That changed me

That calls to me

Forgetting the desire

To run through the dark with you.

Your lines weigh heavy upon the heart, for I know the feeling all too well. Much applause!
