Afternoon Departure

Afternoon Departure

A Poem by Monday Parker

His detachment started suddenly

Thursday late afternoon as he was

Heading for the door.

After all morning and afternoon he was unclothed in my bed

His goodbye was quick and emotionless

One hand on my opened door

Might not hear from me for a few days

He said dismissively

I nodded my head knowing he meant ever again...

The idea didn't effect me- not really.

Yet, mentally

Lights on

Camera rolling capturing his moment

The last time I will see him

Farewell lover

My emotions for him were nonexistent

He already served his purpose

I used him...

To help me forget about the one before

With my rebound complete

The realization his presence was compelled

By some need in me- to forget

My necessity for him was dwindling away

Sputtering out

My interest in seeing him again had depleted

One month to the day

Our time had expired.
