Father

Father

A Poem by Monday Parker

Father

Do you miss me as a little girl?

With my innocent blue eyes

Looking up to you with wonder

Smiling

Laughing with that child’s giggle

Do you miss that little girl

Who ran trusting into your wide open arms

Do you remember my childhood voice

My yellow hair

Do you remember the lessons you taught me

The morals you shared

The years you spent

Raising

Protecting

Loving

Father do you miss me as a child

That baby I use to be

Do you father?

Do you miss your child

As much as I miss my Daddy?

Gosh! This made me cry. It brought up questions I often want to ask my father...my parents divorced when I was six. He decided to "move on" and wasn't much of a presence in my life until adulthood. I know I tokk a totally different interpretation from this than other readers might, but that's what makes it such a great write: reader interprets and puts it to use as they need to. Thanks for sharing.

Aw this is a wonderful poem. Well written the flow is nice and the subject matter is wonderful. Its a point of view we don't often read about.
