Wings

Wings

A Poem by Monday Parker

I am worth more than this.

I am stronger than where he left me

I gave away my power

Enabling him to hurt me like this.

He walks away with a clear mind

Thinking he can do better than me

Than what we were.

Seeing his future with someone new

But I know somewhere deep inside of me

That I am worth more than this

I glitter inside

Its just hidden under years of his

Emotional abuse.

Like dust

I will brush off and

I will be flying soon

He will be standing in the deep pit he turned his life into

Watching the shadow of my flight

Wondering how I could have flown so high after

He tried to remove my wings…

i love the concept of this.
the flow could have been a bit better in parts, but it's still a very good poem.
