Hurt Me More

Hurt Me More

A Poem by Monday Parker

I thought this was love

But I never really felt stupidity

Never rubbed it on my face before

Now it’s below my skin

Flowing blue

Racing my blood

Surrounding my supple heart

With its bitter cold

Syrups

I reached for it with my

Betraying finger tips

They urn for his back

And sleeping body

Stupidity

Is what my heart named me

Crawling back for more

Razor cut in my fingers webs

Asking for lemon and salt to match

I drag my beat up amputee body

Back to the sole of his feet

Begging for him to inflict me more

My tears, blood and stitches weren’t enough

Please give me more

I say coughing up small chunks

Of my blended heart

Please hurt me more
