He once ate me up.

He once ate me up.

A Poem by monono

I became silent.

Very silent.

A silence that has been living in me ever since -
but we are better neighbours now.

I give him his time,
and he leaves me alone.

He needs feeding sometimes.
He gets hungry.
He once ate me up...

My playing was too noisy.

So now
The kid that played is now long gone.

But I do remember him,
sometimes.

He plays in my memories
which is my safe, secret spot.

But time calls,
work is impatient, stern.
And so until next time
(with a flying kiss and a bread-crumb smile),
let's play again.

You live on in me,
because I am better for the child that I was.
