Terror 2020

Terror 2020

A Poem by moog-drika
"

Not a poem but a status.

"
A lot of stuffs happened over the last few months in my life. I am writing this here because I am getting lost. And I know the people I have engaged here with can help me get back on track with all their support.

I lost my grandmother for Covid-19 and maternal uncle for cardiac arrest. I was almost recovering from the dark phase but life hit me hard with a darker one. On October 27, my mom suffered aneurysm hemorrhage.

Fortunately, the artery in her brain didn't rupture but leaked so we scheduled her clipping surgery for 31st. But on 29th, she experienced second leak that made her unconscious.

The Neurosurgeon didn't wait for the scheduled date and fixed the surgery on that very day. We were waiting for her to regain consciousness and she did after half an hour.

However, the second leak deteriorated her condition and Neurosurgeon told us that it brought her chance of surviving down to 5%. After 9 long hours of surgery, he came with good news. She survived.

She was in ICU for about 14 days and then in cabin for 3 days. After that, we got her home. Her health report is all fine and great. But she got two major issues. One is her lack of strength and other is her affected memory. Sometimes she recognizes us, sometimes she doesn't. The Neurosurgeon had told us that these would be the common issues after such surgery. And it would take 2 months or more for everything to get back to normal.

We are now providing her with a home-like psychotherapy as it can quicken her recovery process. And she is doing great. But it's still hard to see her in this state. I know she is fine but I miss her calling me all the time. I miss nagging her about silly stuffs. I miss her embracing me tight and warmly. I don't know how long it will take but this is frustrating me.
(Thanks so much everyone for the support and positive energy)

I have revisited to read and wonder how you are dear poet. The news I see on TV is not good from your part of the world. I send you my prayers for comfort for you and your family.

God bless you! That is so rough! I'm so sorry!
There is a light at the end of the tunnel though! She will come back to her normal self.
Two deaths alone is still a lot to handle. I've only dealt with one thus far.
I'm sorry.

I'm really glad to hear that. May it continue to get brighter. Lots of love back. :)
My father is in rehab now. He had covid and recovered but his dementia is getting worse. He can barely see and can hardly walk. He was on the critical list twice in the last two months but, hopefully he'll be able to come home.

Your story is one no one would want to go through but I believe you'll come out stronger than before. I wish you and your mom all the best.

This is a beautiful share, even tho I'm sorry it's filled with tough news from your real throbbing life! I'm so sorry you've been thru so much! I've missed you here. You are one of my favorites, so I'm glad you reached out to share your situation in such honest & painful depth. Most people go thru things alone but you give us an example of how to open up & let people see what we're going thru. Everyone should open up & share like this more often. Every brain injury is different, but I've had a brain injury & the brain is an amazing instrument of healing. I was so forgetful after neck surgery (within mm of brain stem) back in 2013, I could not finish a sentence, not one sentence, without forgetting what I was saying. Every sentence was blanked out of my mind & I stopped talking. But I didn't stop exercising my mind, becuz I was writing. And now my memory is a million times better, altho I'm still forgetful. It will be similar for your mom -- it will take time, maybe even a year or two, but lots of functionality grows back or gets taken over by other regions. Here's wishing your family the very best of strength & love to get thru this! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Life is tough, especially when close family are hit by problems. But it seems like your mother will come through and live to appreciate all the care you have given her. It's all we can do... love one another. Nothing else matters much.

Life is fragile. Your mother is fortunate to have such a caring family. Think not on what has been lost, but on that which still is, and on that which yet may be.

Oh Moog I am so sorry! I know how hard this is my stepmother experienced this and all i can say by way of comfort is look into her eyes the wheels will be moving inside her eyes believe me! she will still be there she may not be able to form the sentences but she will be her:) it took months for my stepmother to be able to communicate clearly again my brothers wife went thru this too it was very scary to say the least but again i could see it was her behind those eyes and my sister in law also suffered a brain injury her a bit more difficult she lost some motor function as well as speech patterns but now she is doing great and back to her snarky self just Be patient with her and yourself youll find she will find ways to communicate that you never thought existed dear Moog My heart goes out to you both:)

Dear Moog, I am so sorry to hear what an awful time you have been having. Your mom has survived against the odds. She is a fighter. It may take time, and it must be so very difficult for you, but be hopeful. Sending you my best wishes and for your mom to make a good recovery. 2020 has been a dreadful year.

Do the herbal cures for healing. Many are easy on the body. Find the food that heal. I pray your mother will be okay. Hard year for so many. We must stay strong and hope for better days. I lost my Father in January. Dear Moog. I hope the coming year is more kinder.

Moog,

Just pray and be patient, she will hug you once again...
Time is hard to abide when something like this is happening...
