Midnight in the Rose Garden

Midnight in the Rose Garden

A Poem by Bo Lanier

Midnight in the Rose Garden in the shadow of the moons

Shadow well I retrace the paths we used to walk back to

That moonflower covered two story gazebo...I climb the

Stairs again to the top that overlooks the deep and

Dangerous waters of Wauconda Bay that took you away from

Me twenty years ago today...I can feel your presence

All around me tonight and I think I can almost see your

Face in the bright glare of the lanterns light...I

Close my eyes just to open them and see you again...

You reach out for me and I take your hand as we walk

Off into the light together forsaking this God forsaken

Land and we just disappear like two night birds taken to

Flight in the starlight...now there will be no more

Tears here every night around midnight...Midnight In The

Rose Garden.
