The Year I Was Born

The Year I Was Born

A Poem by Bo Lanier

THE YEAR I WAS BORN
we were still fighting the
Vietnam war, Nixon was all
caught up in the drama
of Watergate then forced
to resign by summertime
handing his key to the
White House over to vice
president Ford, 38th
president of the United
States...
THE YEAR I WAS BORN
the chart topping songs
were Band On The Run,
Cat's In The Cradle and
You're Sixteen...
A Love story and The
Godfather Pt. 2 were the
two biggest movies on
the silver screen...
THE YEAR I WAS BORN
a gallon of gas was only 50
something cents and it was
only $25 to $35 dollars for
a month’s rent...
THE YEAR I WAS BORN
love was in the air despite the
war still going on in Vietnam,
we just started putting smiley
faces on everything, everywhere
in 1974 we joy, we had fun, we
had season in the sun...
THE YEAR I WAS BORN...
THE YEAR I WAS BORN!
