JUST BECAUSE

JUST BECAUSE

A Poem by Leona P Slagle
"

A true story about the adoption of my son in 1978

"

Just because you were not born of my flesh

You are still my child

Just because I am fair skinned with green eyes and you are dark skinned with black eyes

You are still my child

Just because I stood outside the delivery room while you came into what we call this beautiful world

You are still my child

Just because my body had no milk to offer you and you had to drink from a bottle.

You are still my child

You were offered to me without misgivings, with beautiful intentions, with the knowledge that yo would be loved and cared fror and given all that you deserve

You are my son in every aspect that love and the law could provide.

You are my son until the end of time

In my heart and in my soul

I will always be your mother.

I'm an instant fan. I like pieces like this that (shh, take another avenue, A. Okay, I'll say...) go against the petty little fears of man. It takes a blessed soul and golden heart to love in a way that pure and bold and flies into a scene everyone else evacuates so easily.
Reads like this (for some reason) don't tend to get a lot of reviews, but here's mine. A 100/100 piece and Thank You for sharing it!
