Alcoholic Blur

Alcoholic Blur

A Poem by Beaudyn

Mirror mirror on the wall, tell me what you think
Do I look that bad because I had an alcoholic drink?
It started out cold, then dulled to a burn
And a headache from hell is what you did earn
Keep drinking some more, your self-control will be lost
And your insides, like a bad ocean storm, will be tossed
On the table, the sink, or across the kitchen floor
Praising the porcelain god some more
Waking up in the morning, your memory gone
Of last night's events, why aren't your clothes on?
You roll over and see them on the floor in a ball
Glance at your cellular phone; one...missed...call...
You retrieve your message, it's your best friend, your lover
Who has no idea you were in bed with another
You shouldn't have been here, last night or now
But you drank away your problems without her, anyhow
And now you're left with one night of hurt and pain
"We were just having fun," but what did you gain?
You let your guard down, you made a mistake
It will haunt you forever, her trust you did take
She'll need a lot of proof to trust you again
All because of an "innocent" drink with a friend
