Chapter 6 - Patrol Issues

Chapter 6 - Patrol Issues

A Chapter by CrossesOfTime

It was already 6:00 in the evening and I was hanging around the Silver Shadow gang den. I had a cigarette in my mouth but I didn't light it yet. I still had many things in my mind, particularly the fight I had with a certain jerk back in the park. I lit a small flame on my hands and lit my cigarette. I took a long drag from my cig, it was very satisfying as the hot smoke touched the insides of my lungs. I blew out a soft smoke out of my mouth. I haven't had a smoke in almost a day and I f*****g needed this right now.

Same questions still ran through my mind. Why was I still affected about what Lumina had said to me? It must've hurt more than I thought. Some of the gang members were out, probably they had their own business to attend to. I was stuck with Hide, one of our blademasters same as Samiel. He always had a ponytail on that silver hair of his. He was a bit taller than me and a bit older as well. He was sharpening his huge Circular Blade.

"Hey Hide ya done with the polish yet? I need to clean my revolver too ya know!" A voice I heard said and when I saw who it was it was one of our own as well. Raven was her name. She was a stingy person who always wore her trademark hoodie vest with the hood down. She was about Lumina's age but she was different. She had dark red hair which was in a ponytail. Her eyes were grey in color and she sure as hell wans't a softie. She was a Slinger and a very good one at that. I remember that one time we got in a skirmish and she almost beat me, almost. I was till a newbie at that time though.

"I'm almost done." I had heard Hide reply.

I saw her holding her revolver. That thing held 9 rounds instead of the conventional 6 which was convenient for her to kill more enemies. I then looked back to where I was looking at. Out the window, I was staring blankly in the night sky. I was kind of spacing out already until a familiar person approached me.

"Hey you gonna space out the whole night?" the person asked me. It was Samiel.

"Well there's nothing else to do since most of the guys are out." I replied.

"Where have you been anyway? Haven't seen you since the raid." Samiel had asked me again.

"S**t happened. It's a long story actually." I lied to him. I didn't want to tell him that I actually met my old friend when i was still going to school. He'd tease me endlessly about it and I won't like that.

I looked at Samiel and saw that he was holding something familiar. I then had the urge to check my pocket just to make sure. Crap, my phone's gone. I forgot I left it on the table where I got my new pack of cigarettes. I saw Samiel fiddling my phone, but I didn't care as long as he didn't read my messages or answer the calls. F****r was a prankster and I already had enough s**t on my tail.

"Dude you have new voice mail." He said to me while smiling in a teasing manner. He held up my phone to my face and I saw who the voice mail is from. There was a familiar picture that came along with it. I curse these new phones that allow the contact's pictures to be seen with the message sent. It was Lumina. I quickly grabbed the phone from Samiel and played the message.

"Look Kidel, I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I hope that you would forgive me okay? Pleasecall me back when you get this message."

I was surprised that Lumina actually had attempted to apologize to me. I then saw Samiel looking at me again in a teasing manner. He'd probably saw Lumina's picture in my phone already before I had taken it from him.

"So, who's the chick?" Samiel had asked me.

"Nobody." I replied bluntly.

"Aww c'mon man you're no fun. Tell me who she is." He insisted.

"Some girl I met when I drifted to the central square before our raid." I replied to him. I didn't want to tell him that she was an old friend of mine from 3 years ago because he did not need to know that stuff.

"She got a name?" Samiel had asked me.

"Lumina." I replied to him.

"Elegant name. Suits her face." He said to me teasingly. I didn't budge, probably because I was still sore at the b***h.

"You gonna call her back?" Samiel had asked me again. He obviously heard the last part of the message.

"No." I replied bluntly. I didn't want to call her back yet, I admit I was still kinda sore on what she had said to me in the park. Geez when did I become such a grudge keeper?

Suddenly I heard Raven blurt out something about me. She was now polishing her revolver.

"Yo Kidel! Is the stuff Samiel telling us about you true?" she had ask.

"About what?" I asked her.

"You being a Manipulator just like Raziel?" she had said. I expected this much from Samiel, but truth be told the gang eventually needed to find out.

"Yeah." I replied bluntly.

"Then show us." Hide suddenly burst out.

I then conjured flames out of nowhere. The Azure color had flown above the palm of my hand. I was spinning the flame around my hand and the gang members present in the den were surprised.

"That's some cool s**t Kidel." Raven had said.

"Yeah this boosts are gang up in the playing field even more." Hide had replied.

To be honest I was getting bored out of my f*****g mind from just staying in the den. I wanted to go out and see the sights again in the city. To take my mind of things.  I still had my cigarette in my mouth, but it was already going out. I tossed the butt of my finished cigarette and stomped on it to extinguish the flame. I walked down back to the entrance of the den when suddenly Raven shouted at me.

"The hell you going?!"  She had asked me.

"Out. I'm f*****g bored." I replied to her.

"No you're not." Samiel had butted in.

"And why is that?" I asked the both of them?

"You're on patrol duty today Kidel." Hide had replied.

Crap, I hate patrol duty. Basically it was just me climbing on the roofs of buildings near our vicinity to check if our territory is intact and eliminating people that were suspicious and going out of bounds. I let out a huge sigh.

"Fine." I said to them as I went back inside the den. I climbed the ladder that was to my right and walked across the railings. I then climbed another ladder which led to the rooftop of the den. I figured that it was a good place to start with my Patrol Duty.

I was up on the roof of the den. I saw a good view of the city from up there and as usual, the city was busy. I then moved from the roof of the den and jumped onto the next roof accessible. I looked around and still there was no one suspicious. It was the same routine in patrol duty, jump, look and clear.

After an hour, I had already scouted majority of the rooftops in our territory. There were no sneaky little gang members in sight. I knew that because no one dared messed with the Silver Shadows. I was already far off from the Silver Shadows gang den and I decided to rest and sit on the roof top of a random building. It had a clear view of the moon which had shown tonight brightly. I got out another cigarette from my pack and put it in my mouth. As I attempted to light it with my flames, a blade like object landed on my left side. I looked at the blade and it impaled my cigarette. There was someone else here besides me.

I looked around the vicinity of the rooftop but I saw no one. Where had the projectile come from. Then just as I was about to turn around, two small blades were about to meet my face. Gladly, I had set fire on them to slow down their impact and I dodged it afterwards. I looked at the direction where the blades came from and saw a person with a covered face. Only the eyes were visible but from the looks of the body, the person was probably a female, because no male had sexy curves like that.

"Do you know who you're messing with?" I said to her.

Right after that she disappeared right in front of me and reappeared behind me while pointing one of her knives at the back of my neck.

"No, but I could give it a shot." she had replied. She had a seductive voice I admit that, but the fact that she had a knife on the back of my head was just wrong.

In a split second I disarmed her and her knife fell to the ground. I twisted her arm behind her back and pushed her against a wall that was present on the rooftop. She was strong I admit that, but make no mistake, I won't take it easy even if she's a girl.

"You're kinda fast handsome." She had said again as she attempted to break free of the grapple hold I put her in. She hit me in the face with a back fist from her usable arm and did a backflip in order to get out of her predicament. She armed herself with her knives again.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked her as I set my hands on fire.

The woman did not answer my question, but instead she rushed at me with her knives. She was fast I admit, but not fast enough. I predicted her moves and evaded it expertly and attempted to grab her again. I failed and only grabbed the cloth that was covering her face. Immediately it was removed and it now verified that she was actually a woman.

She looked just about my age and she had short blonde hair which only had reached up to her chin. Her emerald eyes were like that of a cat's, cunning and devious and not to be trusted. Her face was fierce at the same time pretty, she was probably a gang member who specialized at undercover work.

"The Dragon Clan sends their regards, Crimson Eyed Demon." She had said to me as she had attempted to run away. I chased after her on the rooftops endlessly until I had finally caught up with her and immediately pushed her back against the wall and grabbed her by the collar. She looked at me with that smug face of hers. I didn't say a word.

"What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" She had said wittily

"Tell your leader, the Silver Shadows accept their challenge." I told her bluntly as I let her go.

"You'll hear from us soon, Red Eyes." She had replied as she planted a kiss on my cheek and then ran and jumped on the rooftop next to this building. F*****g s**t planted one on me. She'll pay for it when I kill her.

I saw her ran swiftly and jump the rooftops of this city. I knew that this was not the last time that I was going to encounter her. This was probably what Noire was talking about when he had said that I was going to hear from The Dragon Clan and from the looks of it, Gang Kai was brewing.

I took another cigarette from my pack and put it in my mouth. I lit it and inhaled the smoke and blew it out. Finally things are beginning to look interesting.
