Chapter 3 - The Second Day

"What's this necklace supposed to be?" Aedan uttered to himself while he was examining it thoroughly.

 

"It looks like a tiny sword. Why would he give me something like this?"

 

He was still puzzled but he kept it with him always just for the reason that it looked good on his uniform. He went to school and he noticed that he was the earliest one there so he went to his "usual spot" and just stayed there. Still puzzled about the necklace he examined it again and after a thorough look at it he finally gave up because he couldn't tell if it was a sword it was something else. "Strange things have been happening lately. I'm getting stressed. I shouldn't think about it too much..."  Aedan thought to himself.

 

"So this is where you stay..." said a familiar voice,

 

Aedan took a look at the door leading to the rooftop he noticed that it was his professor.

 

"It's peaceful here..." he added.

 

"Not that much anymore because many know the place now." Aedan replied.

 

"Really?" asked his professor. "Like who?" he added.

 

"Well Riku for starters, then there's Kaoru and now you." Aedan replied.

 

"I may need to look for a new spot to relax." he said to his prof.

 

"Well you'd better get down from there because class starts in a few minutes." the professor replied.

 

"Are there any people in the classroom now?" Aedan asked.

 

"Well Kaoru's there doing her assignment." said his professor.

 

When his professor said that Aedan suddenly remembered what happened yesterday.

 

"Well I better get to class then." said Aedan.

 

With that being said Aedan got up and jumped down to the school rooftop ground and went on to the classroom. In the classroom he went to his seat and sat down as he waited for class to start.. As soon as the bell rang class started and all the students went in the classrooms. The bell ranged after 3 hours signaling that it was time for lunch and students went on their way to eat and hangout with their friends. Riku went to the school rooftop to hangout with Aedan but when he got there he did not find him.

 

"That's weird, he usually stays here during lunch time." Riku said while he was going down stairs,

 

Meanwhile Aedan was lying on a thick sturdy branch of a big cherry blossom tree which was located behind the gymnasium of their school.

 

"I guess this is my new spot." he uttered to himself while thinking of the girl he saw yesterday on the rooftop.

 

"Maiev....what does she want from me?" he said while thinking deep.

 

"So this is your spot now" a familiar voice said.

 

Aedan looked down and he saw Maiev.

 

"Yeah...no one knows that this place exists so I find my solitude here." Aedan replied to Maiev.

 

"You're really weird you know?" she replied while smiling at Aedan.

 

"You're a spirit right?" Aedan asked.

 

"Yes"  she replied . "I am the guardian of Gaia.... this world.... but I have no more human form.... this is my spirit form...." she said to Aedan.

 

"A guardian huh...but if you're a spirit why can I see you?" he asked.

 

"Because Enma asked me to guide you..." she replied.

 

"Enma... the old man I saved from the three men. He knows you?" Aedan asked Maiev.

 

"He does....and I know that you will meet me again...." she said.

 

"But I already met you...." Aedan answered her.

 

"You will meet me not in this world but in another."  Maiev said while looking up to the skies.

 

"What do you mean?" he asked.

 

"Till we meet again Aedan." Maiev said to him as she faded away.

 

After that Aedan got down from the treebranch and went back to class. Nothing extraordinary happened in his class and as soon as he knew it the bell rang and it was time to be dismissed. Riku approached him and said;

 

"Hey you gonna hit the arcade?"

 

Aedan replied "I have work today sorry." then Aedan left the school building and went to work.

 

After his work he got his pay and went on home.

 

"It's a tiring day" he murmured to himself.

 

He was walking past the alley when he heard some one screaming 'AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!" He stopped and said;

 

"That sounds like Kaoru and it looks like it came from the dark alley. I better go check it out!!"

 

He rushed to the dark alley and when he got there he saw Kaoru being attacked by shadow-like creatures.

 

"Help me!!!" she exclaimed.

 

He tried to hit the shadow like creatures with his fists but it just got through the bodies of these shadow creatures. One attempt caught him off-balanced and this created an opening for the shadow creatures to attack him. They attacked him and sent him flying to the wall. Aedan was hurt  but he did not give up he got up and tried to hit them with all he has.

 

"It's useless" one of the shadow creatures said, it appeared to be the leader.

 

"Kaoru get out of here now!!!!" Aedan said to Kaoru. She escaped while Aedan was still confronting the shadow creatures.

 

"I'm gonna take you down." said Aedan in an angry tone.

 

He touched his necklace and accidentally it turned to a sword.

 

"What is this?" Aedan wondered "Well no time for that now!!"

 

He started to slice the shadow creatures and he noticed that everytime the sword hits them they get hurt and die instantly.

 

"No!! He wields the Redeemer! That means he is the....." said the leader of the shadow creatures

 

"Enough chat!!" Aedan said "Time to die shadow!!!!"

 

The leader said " I wouldn't say that..."

 

After the leader said that he was begnning to get to stronger and he was also being surrounded by dark energy.

 

"Don't underestimate my power!!!!!"

 

He formed into a more powerful state.

 

"Think you can beat me now guardian? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!" said the leader of the shadows.

 

"What the hell are you?!" Aedan asked him.

 

He did not answer and He attacked Aedan and sent him flying to the wall. He turned his back on the fallen human.

 

"I'm not dead yet...." said Aedan as he got up and rushed to attack the shadow monster.

 

Aedan missed and he got hit by one of the shadow monster's spells and fell to the ground. "It's hopeless.....you're weak.. even if you wield the Redeemer you can't defeat me."

 

"I'm not so easy to beat either..." Aedan said as he was getting up.

 

The Shadow Monster noticed that Aedan was being surrounded with strong energy and he suddenly felt something disturbing.

 

"What?! I can't move! What's Happening?!!!" said the Shadow monster as he was struggling to get out of the way. 

 

Aedan's eyes suddenly flashed and he said;

 

"The Redeemer sees you as a threat to this world....So now you shall be vanquished...." the blade of the Redeemer was lit up and he rushed to the Shadow monster and sliced it's body in half.

 

"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" exclaimed the Shadow monster as it was disintigrating. 

 

"You are now.....Vanquished.." Aedan said and immediately the sword turned back to a necklace.

 

"Excellent" Enma said as he was watching Aedan's fight.

 

"You.......you knew that this would happen....Who are you really?" asked Aedan

 

"I told you...I am Enma and you my friend are the new owner of the Redeemer." Enma answered.

 

"What is this blade? Why am I it's new owner?" he asked Enma

 

"The Redeemer is the blade used to purify the world of its evil energies. As for your next question the answer is that you are the chosen one." answered Enma.

 

"The Chosen One... that's what Maiev has been telling me. Really what does it mean?" he asked.

 

"You have been chosen to be The Guardian of Ivalice young one." Enma replied.

 

"What is Ivalice?" he continued to ask Enma.

 

"Ivalice is the world where the coexistence of magic and machine are seen. The worlds are divided as you see. the world that you live in now is known as Gaia or the world known as earth ,where magic is not present and it is also the place where people abuse the use of machines, while Ivalice is the world in which magic and machine coexist to help each other to create a perfect world." answered Enma.

 

"If as you say magic and machine help each other in Ivalice, then why does it need a protector?" asked Aedan.

 

"Ivalice is beginning to be filled with evil aura. It needs to be purified because a new threat has been found in its parts." he replied to Aedan.

 

"Like what threats?" Aedan continued to ask.

 

"Soleil, the dragon of darkness is being summoned again." Enma said. "Soleil... the dragon of darkness?" he asked Enma

 

"Soleil is one of the 5 dragons of Nerzhul. Nerzhul is the evil lord that controls all of them, but he was killed by a former wielder of the Redeemer." Enma told Aedan.

 

"Who was it that stopped Nerzhul?" Aedan asked.

 

"It was me I struck him down, but now I fear that he is not dead at all because Soleil was beginning to be summoned again.........Tommorrow is the Last living day of Gaia." Enma said

 

"Why? What's gonna happen?" Aedan asked.

 

"He will consume Gaia as part of his summoning ritual, but don't worry Maiev has a plan for you..." Enma replied.

 

"No..... Gaia will perish? I thought that Maiev was its guardian?" Aedan replied.

 

"She could not do anything anymore. Gaia is beyond saving now...." Enma replied.

 

"Not if I can help it!!" Aedan said as he left the old man

 

. On his way home he said to himself "Maiev I will help you...We will save this world.....We will!!!"
