Chapter 4 - The Final Day

The next day Aedan got up and went to the cherry blossom tree or as no known as his new spot and he stayed there because he was waiting for somebody.

 

"I want to see Maiev....for the last time." He thought to himself.

 

"Are you waiting for me?" Maiev asked him

 

"Yes... um wanted to see you..." Aedan replied shyly.

 

" I had a feeling  that you would be here. I know why you want to see me. Today's the last living day of Gaia isn't it?" she asked.

 

"That's what Enma said. I went here because I wanted to tell you that I will help you protect Gaia." Aedan said.

 

"I would appreciate the help thank you, but there's no more hope Gaia is destined to perish." Maiev said to Aedan.

 

"Even so....I will prove destiny wrong. I will protect Gaia and you as well." Aedan replied.

 

"That's nice. This is the 1st time that someone vowed to protect me. Usually it's me who protects others as the guardian of this world." Maiev uttered.

 

"I promise you that the both of us will save Gaia." Aedan said with all honesty.

 

"Let's talk about something else....Have you ever...liked someone?" Maiev asked.

 

"I'm an introvert.... I have never liked someone before." Aedan replied.

 

"What about that girl who talks to you?" Maiev asked

 

"Kaoru? No I  was never that attached to her..." he answered. "Then why are you blushing? You like her don't you?" Maiev said then she smiled.

 

"No.......I ........um...it's....complicated...." he replied.

 

"You're smiling.......haha.....you look good when you smile...." Maiev said and Aedan blushed even more. " I'm not smiling, something just got stuck in my tooth." he answered.

 

"Have you been alone your whole life?" she asked Aedan

 

"Yes I have....." he answered

 

"Don't you have parents?" she asked.

 

"My father died in war while my mother died of childbirth." Aedan answered

 

"That's so sad."  Maiev answered

 

"It's alright I've learned to accept it eventually. How about you what was your life before you became guardian?" he asked Maiev.

 

"I am not of this world....for you see I have another form in Ivalice and my form there is that I live as the daughter of the village chief."  Maiev said.

 

"You must have a good life huh?" Aedan asked.

 

"I don't know much of my life in Ivalice." she replied.

 

 "I always wonder......why are you always so silent? Why do you like being alone? Why do you separate yourself from others? You are such a mystery even for me....." Maiev said.

 

"I can only answer that wih one saying. It's better to be alone, because when you're alone no one can hurt you and you cannot hurt others." he replied.

 

"That's how you see it right...then why are you spending time with me?" she asked.

 

"Because you're different from them you're different from the typical people." Aedan replied.

 

"What do you mean different?" she asked.

 

"You understand me and when I'm with you.....I feel......" Aedan said.

 

"You feel what?" she asked.

 

"Happy" he replied.

 

"Thanks Aedan.....for saying that...it was nice of you...I also feel something when I'm with you.....I feel.....Safe with you by my side...." Maiev replied.

 

"I want to tell you something.....Maiev.....I..... um...."

 

Just as he was about to tell Maiev they were interrupted by the commotion caused by Soleil.

 

"Soleil has been completely summoned!!! Now he will devour Gaia!" she exclaimed.

 

"Not if I have anything to say about it." Aedan said

 

He touched his necklace to get the sword Redeemer. He rushed to where Soleil is.

 

"Wait Aedan!!! I'll go with you...." Maiev said.

 

"No, stay here and protect the people...." Aedan replied.

 

"No I'm coming with you Aedan.....I don't want you to get hurt.."  she replied

 

He looked at Maiev into her eyes. "Alright......Let's go" Aedan said.

 

They now ran and went to look for Soleil. Gaia is in the state of falling apart now. The shadow creatures just emerge from the ground and start attacking people. People are now scared and they ran to safety.

 

"This world is now falling apart" Enma said

 

.Meanwhile Aedan and Maiev were trying to find Soleil.

 

"We can't find Soleil.." Maiev said to Aedan.

 

As soon as Maiev said that to him, Aedan suddenly closed his eyes.

 

"What are you doing?" Maiev asked.

 

"I'm trying to sense his energy...." Aedan answered.  After a few minutes he felt something strange, a strong dark energy coming from somewhere above.

 

"The dragon's flying....towards this way...." Aedan said."The dragon might be headed for the school rooftop" he added.

 

"The dragon's coming for me. Let's get going then." Maiev replied.

 

They made their way to the school rooftop and there they expected Soleil's arrival, but while they were waiting they were attacked by a long haired man wearing all black wielding a three bladed sword.

 

"The master wouldn't like if you interfere with his plan....." said the mysterious man.

 

"Maiev.....I'll handle this....you stop Soleil." Aedan said.

 

"Be careful...." Maiev replied and she went on to stop Soleil.

 

"Who are you?" Aedan asked angrily.

 

'I am Sefir.....the unholy one....I serve the master...." Sefir replied

 

"And you must that Aedan guy........I heard that you are the one who wields the Redeemer..." Sefir added.

 

"Yeah I am....what's it to you?" Aedan asked.

 

"Prepare to die!!!" he said

 

Sefir rushed at Aedan with his weapon Cerberus. Aedan parried with the Redeemer and their swords clashed as they fought on the school rooftop. Meanwhile Maiev was battling Soleil.

 

"You have tainted this world for the last time" said Maiev

 

She casted the Light Revenant's Arrow on Soleil, but unfortunately It did not affect Soleil and the arrows just got through the dragon's body and it retaliated with a tail whip which fortunately Maiev dodged.

 

Aedan and Sefir were still fighting on the rooftop.

 

"You're a good fighter you know that?" Sefir said with a smug face.

 

"But unfortunately.......I'm better!!!" he said

 

He swung his weapon very strong that it sent Aedan flying to a wall. Very cleverly Aedan executed a counter attack by using that wall as leverage. He kicked against the wall and attempted to thrust his blade to Sefir's body. He stabbed Sefir right through his heart. Just as he thought he already defeated him Sefir disappeared and left him surprised.

 

"What the?! How did that happen?!" Aedan exclaimed.

 

"Surprised huh.....I forgot to tell you that I can make copies of myself......." Sefir said

 

After that he attacked Aedan and again their swords clashed as they fought on the rooftop. One of Aedan's attacks sent Sefir flying into the air and Aedan jumped and went after him. Now they are fighting on the air. Both of the fighters don't seem to be off guard, but Sefir created an opening that caught Aedan off guard and he used that opening to attack Aedan. It was a successful attack and Aedan got hit and took a long fall to the ground. He got up and noticed that he was bleeding. The upper section of his right eye got cut open.

 

"What's wrong? Getting weak? HAHAHAHA!!!!" Sefir said as he was landing safely onto the school's rooftop

 

Meanwhile, the dragon breathed its dark flame onto Maiev and the dragon successfully hit her.

 

Aedan saw this and exclaimed."Maiev!!!!"

He went after Maiev with an attempt to save her but Sefir interrupted and said " Oh no you don't! You're fighting me."

 

Sefir charged at him and started to swing his blade wildly at Aedan, but it created an opening for Aedan to attack him and he did. That attack sent Sefir flying to the air and Aedan followed it up with another attack that now sent Sefir falling hard to the ground. Aedan landed on the school rooftop where Sefir fell.

 

"You're beginning to piss me off.....Now I'll show you.....why I wield Cerberus....." as Sefir got up said this he was beginning to be surrounded by a dark aura.

 

"That's the same aura as the shadow fiend." Aedan thought.

 

"I will end your life now! Good bye Aedan!" Sefir said

 

The dark aura now has merged with his body and he attacked Aedan. He was attacking Aedan from all spaces giving him no room to retaliate and in one swift move he sent Aedan flying to the air, but he was not yet done. He attacked Aedan multiple times until he became unconscious and sent him falling down to the ground. Sefir was still not satisfied so he used a strong move called "Hell's Death Sentence" which in this move he swings Cerberus into the air and the sword produces 3 black beams in which the beams are shaped like Cerberus's claws. These beams hit the unconscious Aedan and sends him falling to the ground not the rooftop of the school anymore.

 

Sefir lands on the ground and he says. "You're done....I win." and then he turned his back on the pile of rubble where Aedan is.

 

Just as he was leaving the pile of rubble he heard the stones rolling aside and he looked back he saw Aedan getting up.

 

"You're still alive?!" Sefir exclaimed.

 

"There's something different about him now." Sefir thought.

 

Aedan got up and now he is not himself. His eyes flashed and he was beginning to be surrounded by an aura of light.

 

"What?! What is this?!" Sefir said as he looked at Aedan.

 

"You are a threat to this world........Only one thing shall be done.......you shall perish....." Aedan said.

 

He rushed at Sefir and sent him fliying into the air and he executed an attack called "The Redeeming Light." in which he slices his opponent 13 times and lastly hitting his opponent with a final slash of his glowing blade. This attack sent Sefir falling falling to the ground and now that he was weak Aedan was ready to strike him down.

 

"Ugh........you won't strike me down......we'll meet again.......Aedan...." Sefir said

 

After saying that he teleported to escape from Aedan. As soon as he escaped Aedan regained consciousness and he suddenly remembered and said to himself..."Maiev!" He quickly rushed to where Maiev is and he saw Maiev still fighting the dragon.

 

"Maiev I've come to help you!!" Aedan said

 

He charged at the dragon but his attacks don't work on it.

 

"Aedan get out of here now!!!" said Maiev

 

"I won't leave you here!!!" Aedan said.

 

 The dragon now is setting up for his final move "The Eternal Darkness"

 

"Oh no......This is it...... Aedan Get out now!!!" Maiev said to Aedan.

 

Enma arrived to the scene and said "It's time to go Aedan......"

 

As soon as he said that he opened a portal that leads to safety.

 

"No!!! I won't leave Maiev here!!!" Aedan replied angrily.

 

"Aedan it is useless......I will hold of  Soleil until you cross the portal.......and I won't forget you.....even if I perish......" Maiev said to Aedan.

 

"It's time to go now Aedan. You must fulfill your own destiny as Maiev will fulfill hers." Enma said.

 

"Maiev!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No!!!!!!!!!!!!" Aedan exclaimed

 

He was beginning to be sucked in the portal which Enma opened. Aedan got in the portal safely just as Soleil executed "The Eternal Darkness" and it wiped out the entire world of Gaia. Maiev's final words are "I won't forget you Aedan......I promise....." and she dissapeared forever.
