A Chapter by CrossesOfTime

"Are you challenging me?" Glyndwir said confidently to Aedan.

Aedan did not give any answer to him. Glyndwir noticed that they attracting people's attention so he said.

"Fine then let's take this somewhere else shall we, Follow me!!"

Aedan followed him without question.

"They're going hurt each other...." Maaya said to her father. "Shouldn't we do something?" she continued to ask.

"It is a matter that the two of them only can solve, so we better not get in the way." Cairn said to her daughter.

"Whatever!!! I'm checking up on them.' she insisted and she followed Aedan and Glyndwir's trail.

Meanwhile Aedan was still following Glyndwir he asked him.

"Where are we going?"

Glyndwir said to him. "To my training grounds!"

After a short while they made it Glyndwir's training grounds. It was a clear place with only the ground on their feet present. Glyndwir had the advantage because they were near a body of water.

"Interesting choice of location." Aedan said to him.

He had a feeling that Glyndwir was up to something.

"This is where I train.' Glyndwir said

He drew his weapon, a sword called "Jalendra" which means the king of the water gods.

"Draw your weapon now." Glyndwir said to his adversary.

Aedan took his necklace of and he turned it to his sword. Glyndwir was impressed.

"That's a nice weapon you have." He said to Aedan.

"Enough talk...." Aedan said as he rushed at Glyndwir with his blade.

Glyndwir easily parried his attack and countered with an attack called "The Rage of Neptune." which in this attack he creates 7 huge waves coming from his sword. "Take this!!" Glyndwir said. Aedan was quick and he dodged 6 of the waves but the seventh wave had a surprise for him.

The wave moved in a different angle and was about to hit him, but just as it was about to hit him, he destroyed the seventh wave in a blink of an eye. Glyndwir was surprised when he saw this. "How on earth did he do that?" Glyndwir thought to himself. "Heads up!!" Aedan said as he was about to hit him from above. Glyndwir dodged that shot and their blades clashed.

'You're quick." Glyndwir said

He jumped into the air and executed an attack called "Poseidon's Trident" which in this attack he transforms the water around him into medium sized sharp icebergs that attack the target like a homing missile.

"Let's see you dodge this one..." Glyndwir said with confidence.

The icebergs followed Aedan in every direction he ran. "I can't shake these things..... there's only one thing to do" he thought to himself. Aedan jumped high into the air and he thought "I knew they'd follow..." The ice bergs followed him into the sky as he predicted. Now he made his landing to the ground fast so that there will be a time interval between him and the icebergs. When he landed he automatically thrusted his sword to the ground and executed an attack which in a circular seal appears on the ground where he thrusted his sword and a giant gauntlet emerges from the seal. In this situation the gauntlet was the one which destroyed Glyndwir's icebergs.

"What on earth was that?" Glyndwir thought to himself as he landed on the ground.

"You're good...." he said to Aedan.

"But you're not better than me!!" he added and he rushed to Aedan and again their swords clashed and they were having one hell of a sword fight.

Neither one of the fighters will give up as they continued to swing their blades at each other.

"You give a good fight...." Glyndwir said.

"You talk too much." Aedan replied to Glyndwir.

Glyndwir grew angry at Aedan and he started to attack him faster and one of these hits sent Aedan to the air, but that is just what Aedan wanted him to do. He was high up in the air and Glyndwir chased after him. Aedan noticed that he was just at the right distance, so he executed another special move which he swings the Redeemer and sends out a huge beam that is like a curved sword blade.  Glyndwir got hit with this move and sent him falling to the ocean bellow. He fell to the ocean and did not rise up immediately. Aedan went to see if he is still alive so he looked to the spot where Glyndwir fell and looked at that spot from the upper ground (where he was standing).

"Come on.....rise up will ya.....I know that you're alive" Aedan thought. He waited there for some time, then when he got tired of waiting he turned his backand tried to walk away.

"I'm.....not done yet..." said Glyndwir as he rose from the water.

Aedan looked at his direction and saw something else. He saw a giant snake-like beast and Glyndwir seemed to be on it.

"What the hell is that?!" Aedan was surprised when he saw the snake like beast.

"This is what I call.....Melusine, The Legendary Water Serpent". Glyndwir said

The serpent started to attack Aedan. He tried to dodged Melusine's attacks, but the serpent was too fast and eventually he got hit by one of its water stream attacks.

"Argh.....lucky shot....." Aedan said and he got up.

"How did he summon that thing?" Aedan thought to himself. "This is your end!!!" Glyndwir said as ge commanded the beast to execute its strongest attack, "The Hydro Tornado" , where Melusine goes to abody of water and creates a strong whirlpool and the serpent makes the whirlpool rise to the ground and attacks Aedan. The whirlpool that hit Aedan made him unconscious and sent him flying into the air. The whirlpool subsided and Aedan was still in the air. Glyndwir jumped of Melusine's back and struck Aedan. Aedan was now falling to the ground below. He fell on the boulders on the ground and remained unconscious.

"Get up!!" Glyndwir said as he jumped back on Melusine's back. Melusine stayed on the water shore. Aedan was still unconscious. Inside his mind he heard a voice that said;

"You're weak....I'll take over now..."

"What no get out!!!!!!!!!" Aedan said.

"It's useless......I'm...stronger...." said the mysterious voice.

Glyndwir noticed that the pile of rocks where Aedan fell are moving. He was shocked to see Aedan getting up from Melusine's strongest attack.

"What the hell?! He's still getting up?!" Glyndwir exclaimed.

Aedan was not himself, his eyes were flashing as he was in an uncontrolable trance and his powers are getting stronger.

"Melusine!! Finish him!!" Glyndwir commanded.

The serpent charged at him at a fast rate. Glyndwir noticed that Aedan was not moving. Melusine still charged at him at a decent rate. Now Aedan also charged at Melusine and in one slash he slayed the Legendary Water Serpent.

"What the?! Where is this power coming from?!" Glyndwir exclaimed.

Aedan rushed at Glyndwir with the Redeemer and Glyndwir quickly guarded himself. Their swords clashed, but it was clear that Aedan had the advantage because he was in a trance.

Maaya went to the training grounds to check up on them. She was accompanied by her father. When they got there they saw Glyndwir and Aedan fighting. Cairn saw Aedan and said;

"Oh no......he is in a state of trance!!"

Maaya replied. "What does that mean?" as she looked at the two fighters still going at it.

"The trance state is the ultimate defense mechanism of the Redeemer. Basically it happens when the wielder is extremely weak or is unconscious." Cairn replied.

"What does that do? I mean what are the benefits of the trance state?" she continued to ask.

"The trance state grants you unlimited Mana usage and it also increases your endurance. It makes you the most powerful person in Ivalice, but there is a catch when you are in the trance state, you are not yourself and you are being controlled by the Redeemer." Cairn said.

"Oh no!!! We must help him!!" Maaya replied to her father.

"I'm afraid we can't do anything but hope for a miracle." Cairn said.

Aedan now has weakened Glyndwir and is now setting up for the final blow.

"I have slayed your pet, now it's your turn." Aedan said.

He charged at Glyndwir and is now about to swing his sword at him. Just as he was about to strike him down Maaya appeared right in front of him and he suddenly stopped.

"Stop Aedan I'm letting you do this!!!" she said to the Aedan.

"Ma...Maiev....ugh...." Aedan replied

His trance state subsided and he fell to a swoon on the ground. "He's tired....and so is Glyndwir. Maaya help him to get back at the village safely. " said the village chief as he carried Aedan back to the village.
