Chapter 15 - A Day with The Maiden

Aedan finally reached the inn where his group was supposedly about to stay. He went to the reception desk and asked.

"Is there a Maaya staying here?" he asked.

"Yes sir." the receptionist answered.

"What room might she be at?" Aedan said. "I'm a friend." he added

"Room 10 sir." The receptionist replied.

"Thanks." Aedan replied and he moved on to the said room while carrying Iraven.

"THIS IS FREAKIN HEAVY!!!!!" Aedan thought while climbing the stairs.

He finally reached Room no. 10 and he knocked on the door.

"Who is it?" Maaya asked.

"It's Aedan." He replied

"Aedan who?" Maaya said as she chuckled softly.

"Maaya just open the door I'm carrying something really heavy...." Aedan said. He was already annoyed

''Say the magic word...." Maaya said as if she was teasing him.

"Please." Aedan said sarcasticaly.

She opened the door and saw Aedan carrying Iraven. Aedan got in the room and put Iraven down on one of the beds.

"Is that the blademaster?" she asked.

"Apparently. Glyndwir never told me that he was a drunkard." He replied. "Well he can stay here." Aedan added.

"Where are you going?" Maaya asked.

"I'm going to get some fresh air." Aedan replied coldly.

"Can I come along?" Maaya asked

Aedan remained silent and did not answer her.

"Silence means yes." Maaya replied with a smile.

"Oh man.....my only time of relaxation.....argh fine forget it." Aedan thought "Fine you can come along, but promise me one thing." He added.

"What?" Maaya asked.

"Be silent." Aedan answered her.

"Okay." Maaya giggled a little.

"Let's go then!!" Maaya said as she again pulled Aedan's hand and ran.

"I can never get used to this..." Aedan thought to himself

Maaya took him to a lot of places in Alsirune. They went to various shops (because Maaya was "kinda addicted to shopping). She was looking at alot of things but she wasn't buying anything. aedan on the other hand was just trying to keep himself distanced. He was silent all throughout the trip.

Then they went to a particular shop. It was called "The Alsirune Central". There she saw something she liked very much. It was a necklace with a sapphire on it. Upon looking at it Maaya already wanted it. Then the shop clerk approached her and said.

"Anything you like ma'am?"

"This one. The necklace with the sapphire on it." Maaya replied.

"Ahh. This can be acquired by trade or by 50 gold pieces." The shop clerk replied.

"Ahw...All I have is 20 gold pieces." Maaya said.

"I'm sorry ma'am" The shop clerk said.

Aedan overheard the conversation. Then after that he took something from his pocket. It was a pendant that he got from a person in the orphanage a few years ago. It was laced with pure gold and it's body was pure white gold. He approached the shop clerk and said.

"Will this be enough?"

The shop clerk examined the pendant and afterwards he said.

"It's more than enough sir!! With this you can get another item from the shop."

Aedan chose the cyan ribbon and after he got the items he gave them to Maaya, which made her very happy.

"Thanks." Maaya said to Aedan. He just kept silent.

"Is he your boyfriend?" The clerk asked.

Aedan suddenly flushed when he heard the question. Maaya flushed as well but then she said.

"No. He is my good friend."

"Oh...." The shop clerk said as he went close to Aedan and he whispered to him. "She's a good girl and you two look good together." he added while patting Aedan's back.

"Whatever." Aedan replied.

The two now left and they were now back to the main square of Alsirune. Aedan was looking for the place he found earlier.

"So where'd you want to go now?" Maaya asked.

"Just follow me." Aedan said.

They made their way through the crowds until they finally reached the place that Aedan was looking for. It was near the harbor of Alsirune. It had a nice view and it reminded Aedan of the place he used to converse with Maiev a lot.

"It seems relaxing here, don't you think?" Maaya asked.

Aedan did not reply.

"Yeah. It's times like these that you want to ba alone huh? Well that's about to change because I will try my best effort to make you talk!!" Maaya said cheerfully.

Aedan was still in a silent phase and he did not want to talk.

"So. Why'd you buy me the necklace?" She asked.

Again, no reply was heard.

"You must really like me huh?" Maaya jokingly said.

"I just wanted to help out....." Aedan finally replied.

Maaya noticed that it wasn't the usual reply that he would say. She expected something like "None of your business" or that sort of thing.

"Thanks. You really helped me out." She said.

Aedan for the first time smiled but it was only for a short while.

"You should smile more often, because you look good when you smile." Maaya said.

After she said that Aedan suddenly remembered what Maiev told him. "You look good when you smile" .

He became silent after that and then Maaya again talked.

"You know......you are really a mystery..." She said.

Aedan now was beginning to reply to her more often.

"Why?" he asked.

"Because you always keep yourself separated from others." she replied.

"You told me that already." he said.

"Yeah, but I'm just reminding you." Maaya said

Aedan could not think of anything to talk about with her and Maaya was already running out of things to say. But then he noticed that the sun was setting.

"Sunsets are beautiful...." Aedan said.

Maaya looked at him and then her heart just starting pounding all of a sudden.

"Yes they are....they are a beautiful ending to a day." she replied.

"Whenever I feel lonely I always look at the sunset, because it reminds me of hope for the next day." Aedan said.

Maaya now was looking at Aedan's eyes. He did not norice it because he was looking at the sunset.

"You have green eyes..." She said. "It's like a beautiful gemstone."

Aedan suddenly flushed when he heard this. Then he said.

"You want to take a closer look?"

She looked at it closely now. Her face was almost close to his then she suddenly said.

"Oh you!!" then she pushed Aedan away and then she began to laugh.

"What's wrong?" Aedan jokingly asked her.

She just smiled at him.
