Chapter 17 - The Reason

Sefir now stopped on Mt. Luxiria. He landed Soleil there and then he set up his camp. It was already nightfall ever since he left the palace of Nerzhul. He did not feel any guilt of doing what he did, for he knew that it was the right thing to do.

 

"I did not regret what I did.....I'm just finishing my mission...." He thought to himself.

 

Just as he was about to move to another place on the mountain, he heard someone from behind him. It was Genieva, a loyal subordinate of him.

 

"Why.....why did you do it?" She asked.

 

"I had to....." Sefir replied.

 

"You betrayed us....." Genieva said.

 

"I had no choice......" He answered. "Iveia was not an ideal world for me......The only way to get rid of all of the problems was to end this world...."

 

"Besides why are you here?" Sefir asked "Aren't you supposed to be with Riku and the others?"

 

"I followed you.....I want to know your true motive....." Genieva replied.

"Why? What will you benefit if I tell you?" Sefir asked her

She did not have an answer. She looked at him and she saw not a villain but something else.

"Sefir.....please tell me...." She asked again.

"I want.....to be free.....of everything." He replied

"So you wish to end the world?!" Genieva screamed at him..

"Amazing....you have concern.... usually minions of Nerzhul are stripped of their conscience.." Sefir said.

"I am still human you know..." she said.

"None of us are human anymore....the moment we gave our soul to him....we already lost it." He said.

He fell silent for a while and then he finally said.

"A ideal world.....is just a myth.....the only reasonable way to solve things....is to end everything...." Sefir said.

Genieva was surprised when she saw this side of Sefir. She now learned that he was not sinister and he had plans of his own to save the world.

"So after you end it? You want to start over?" She asked

"In the mana stream, there is this thing we call "everlasting happiness" so even if I end Ivalice, all of us will go to the "place of everlasting happiness"." Sefir said

"And that place is?" Genieva asked.

"Vera Felicia......the true ideal world....." Sefir said "True happiness.....no biased thoughts....."

"But that's just a myth also" Genieva replied.

"There are various theories supporting Vera Felicia......the holyness of mana itself is one." Sefir said

She was astounded when she heard this. He knew too much. She began to wonder who was he and why he knew this much. Genieva never expected for him to know any of this.

"How do you know all of this?" Genieva asked.

"It's a long story.....I don't want to talk about it..." Sefir said.

With that being said, Sefir began walking to his dragon and mounted on it's back. He was getting ready to leave. But he said,

"If you want to come with me then it's your choice......"

'I do" Genieva said and she too mounted Soleil.

They left and they begun their journey.
