Chapter 26 - Histories Part 1 (Enma and Maiev)

Long ago, before the time of Aedan and Elrond there existed a man named Enma. He was the first Guardian of Ivalice and was tasked to get rid of the evil that Nerzhul spawned. Back at that time Nerzhul was not yet strong as he is in the present time. In the village of Savato, Enma's hometown, he was appointed as guardian of Ivalice and then his story unfolds along with a woman named Maiev.

The Village of Savato was one you could compare with a countryside feel to it. Life was simple there for there were not much people in the village for it was small, there were only few vendors and people always went to the mainland to barter. It was an easy life back then and there was a man who was called Enma who lived in that village, he had brown hair and red eyes, he was of average height and he was a carefree person who loved nature and peace. Everyone in the village looked up to him because of his great personal virtue and his value of justice among everything, but one day was going to change life forever because if this one little incident.

The imperial guards from the mainland city, Alsirune, came to the village of Savato one day. They looked for the village chief quarters and began asking the people where the village chief is. They found the village chief and then asked him

"Is there a man named Enma that lives in this village?" One imperial guard asked

"Yes. He lives on the edge of this village, you already passed his house it was by the entrance." The chief said.

The imperial guards went to Enma's house and to their surprise he wasn't there. They decided to wait for him because they thought that he was out doing errands or something. They waited up till sunset to see where he is and as they predicted they saw him returning from a trip. Enma now to his surprise saw the imperial guards surrounding his house he went near them and asked

"Did I do something wrong?"

"No you didn't mister Enma. In fact we came here to bring you a message." The imperial guard replied

"What sort of message is this you bring?" Enma asked.

"You are being summoned in the palace in Alsirune. The king will award you with a great honor so please come tomorrow." The imperial guard replied.

"Award huh? Okay i'll be there!!!" Enma said as he saw the Imperial guards leave. 

Enma wondered what sort of award he would get because he hadn't done anything in service of the King. He wondered until the time he was about to go to bed. He was squirming on his bed. He felt uneasy and he can't sleep.

"CRAP!!! I can't sleep!!! I'm darn too excited." Enma said.

He got up and he got dressed and went outside for fresh air. He went further until he reached a huge tree. He sat down there and thought about the honor that was about to be given to him by the king. Then, in a far off distance he saw a girl. She was dressed in an elegant way. He saw her using some kind of magic that he had never seen before. He went near her and she noticed.

"That was amazing mumbo jumbo! I've never seen anything like it." Enma said

The girl was surprised, she did not know what to say to the man.

"Oh i'm sorry for my rudeness! I forgot to introduce myself, I am Enma!" Enma said

The girl laughed at him.

"What's so funny?" Enma asked her

The girl finally spoke.

"Nothing. You're just too silly, but in a good way though." She said as she smiled.

"Ahh okay." Enma replied and he smiled as well. "What's your name?" He asked her

"I am Maiev. It's nice to meet you Enma." Maiev said to him and she smiled at him.

"Maiev, that's a nice name. If I ever have a daughter I would name her that." Enma replied.

Maiev laughed when She heard him say that. Enma laughed as well. He now asked her a question.

"What brings a girl like you here at this time of night? Shouldn't you be at home?" Enma asked.

"I want to be here, besides it's so boring to stay at home." Maiev replied.

"Not at this time of night, If it was me I would be sleeping like a baby." Enma said

"Then why are you here?" Maiev asked curiously

"I go here when something troubles my mind." Enma replied

"What's troubling your mind?" Maiev asked again

"It's hard to explain." Enma replied

"Why is it hard to explain?" Maiev asked again. Enma now got annoyed a little but he was still okay.

"Why are you asking all these questions?" Enma said

"Is it bad to ask questions." Maiev said with wit

"Errrrr.." Enma replied. He's got nothing now

Maiev laughed at him and said.

"I'm just joking around. Well let's be serious for a little while. What's troubling your mind?" Maiev asked him

"I told you it's hard to explain." Enma said.

"Aww c'mon try me" Maiev said

"Fine fine I'll tell ya. Well you see the imperial guard stopped by my house today they said that the king has a special honor that  wants to present me with but I do not even remember doing anything to deserve that honor which is why I am confused." Enma explained.

"Just try not to think about it that much. That way you can sleep tonight." Maiev said. "And warm milk sometimes helps" she added

"Ohhh. Okay I'll try that now thanks Maiev!!" Enma said as he got up and went home "Bye!" he said.

Maiev waved her hand also as she saw Enma leave. She then now made her way back to Alsirune palace.

"So he's the one. I'm glad that they made a good choice." Maiev said to herself as she went back to the palace. Little did Enma know that a huge responsibility awaits him.
