The battles

The battles

A Poem by Mufaro Kudakwashe Joseph Mangono
"

What really are our battles as humanity? Are they worth fighting for?

"

The battles l hate and those l fight,
Are those not depicted in black and white,
But those found in a mystique shade of grey
Where you can manipulate the colour to support your say
Without necessarily solving the echoes of your pain
And it will torment you as and when,
It desires with its passport as grey
Hence the need to repaint without delay
So as to give purpose to meaningful battles

The battles l like and those that give me relief,
Are those endorsed by my belief,
Whereby with faith and His word l am a conquerer
Whereby peace, joy and love is never clearer
Those are battles l seek and look forward to see
For the tunnels' end justifies what will be
Like all battles there will be blood,
Blood necessary for my salvation,
Battles that attract martyrs!

The battles not worth my notice,
Are those that do not hold a purposeful resume
Those shunned by glory and callings,
Those that do not add value to humanity,
Hence l am particular where l take my armor
Judgemental of the reason why l am fighting
Concerned by the blood that fall on my sword,
That is the reason why Jesus is the captain of my soul
For only He can give meaning to my battles.

A powerful poem. I believe we must stand for the right. Some battles must be fought. No wiser or stronger is a man who can assist another in need and bend down and listen to a child speaking dreams of hope. The poem open the door to a long conversation. The people who will cried the most when their world fall apart. Are the people who did nothing. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.
