As she looked

As she looked

A Poem by Mufaro Kudakwashe Joseph Mangono

She looked at the sky and it was beautiful and grey,

No stars yet but the scene kept her at bay.

In scorching hot weather she still admired the scene

And wondered all along where had it been?

For it was a marvelous sight for all to see

Unwittingly, to God she had launched her plea

Praising Him of His Might for carving such a picture

For to Him it was but a miniature

She wanted the weather to cease causing the heat,

For 'it was ice cream weather' and all one could do was but sit.

Maybe she wanted it to rain, to ease the strain

Not with thunder and lightning for that would erase her gain.

However in reality it was still scorching and not about to sway

Maybe that is how she saw the sky was beautiful and grey

And perhaps no longer wanted it to rain for it would go away

As she looked at nature summarise the day

Maybe she still looked until the stars came

Maybe she looked until the scene was no longer the same

Thus too lack speculation and stick to facts

And to lack flowery description and stick to acts

She looked at the sky that was beautiful and grey

With a bluish background that promised not to stay

For it was getting dark and to black,  blue had to make way

And to the stars the sun had to call it a day

Maybe it happened as she looked
