The Pursuit (revised and completed)

A Story by Jake Murphy

This was a story I wrote awhile back and I decided to clean it up and put it into one page instead of two. Hope you all enjoy. Comments would be awesome, good or bad.

A pair of oval shaped crystals containing the oceans beauty catches my eye

I try and look away but I can’t I'm trapped

Her spell is worse than Medusa's

She looks away; I'm free but curious now

How could one person have that much control over me just by a look into her eyes?

Shall I approach...I shall but how?

Play it cool, smooth, oh no she's looking over here again

I can’t remember my name now, my ambitions vanished

Who or what is this girl?

Her majestic beauty is perplexing, her magnets strong.

I'm drawn to her, so I approach.

She notices and gets up and leaves the room.

The possession is released and I'm free again or am I.

I almost need her, need to know her, need to be near her.

But atlas she is gone or not...

I take after as fast as I can pursue without drawing unnecessary attention

She goes around the corner of this long hallway with doors on either side

I peer around the corner unaware of what awaits and it’s a door.

I look around for anyone else and see no one so I knock

Knock, knock, and knock.

Nothing

Knock, knock, and knock.

Nothing

I shrug my shoulders and turn around and head back to where I came, where the party and other people were partaking in drinks and music.
Hours passed and my hopes all but forgotten of the women in the yellow dress and blue eyes of mystery.

I turn around to find the host to pay my thanks for the invite and there she was in the corner looking at me with a small grin on her face.

Her dark hair cascading over one eye but even with half contact she still had control

I was stunned but gathered myself and decided to go to her.

I took a step, she never moved

I took another cautious step, still she never budged.

She might be interested so I walk over and say "Hello Miss, my name is..."

Before I could mention my name someone to my left yelled something, for the life of me I can’t remember.

I only turned for a second at the fellow who had too much to drink and when I turned back she was gone

Vanished

What just happened?

Where did she go again?

Was she even real?

I will never know.

Will I.
